- Think five times before using your game console to watch high-definition DVDs -- that's how much more power some game consoles use to play a movie than a stand-alone DVD or Blu-ray disc player.
- Many game consoles consume the same amount of power whether in idle mode or being played.
- Your best bet? Turn off the game system after playing. To save even more power, unplug the system from the outlet or power strip when not in use, or purchase a power strip that turns off the console when not in use.
